Set it up in 30 seconds

Two speakers, one phone - no tapping between sentences.

01
Open the app, pick the two languages

Choose JA on one speaker, KO on the other. You do this once per conversation.

02
Place it between you, and talk

Speak naturally. The app notices which side is talking and flips direction itself.

03
Show it - or play it

The other person reads the bilingual screen, or taps a line to hear it spoken.

Real translations, right in the app

Live bilingual captions as people talk, plus a saved transcript you can edit.

Japanese politeness, Korean levels

What the translation engine actually watches between these two languages.

01
해요체 vs 합니다체 in your requests

Cafés and shops run on 해요체, counters on 합니다체. Speak what you normally would, and the level stays yours.

감사합니다. → ありがとうございます。
02
Honorific endings stay in the translation

-셨어요 and -(시)ㅂ니다 stay visible in the output, so you can hear when the speaker is being careful.

오래 기다리셨어요? → 久等了吗?
03
Japanese regret, Korean plain regret

してしまいました carries an apologetic tone; the Korean side lands on an honest sorry rather than a fancy one.

お皿を落としてしまいました。 → 把盘子打翻了。

Why it beats tapping a translation box

Same order, same dish - but nobody types and nobody waits for a turn to pass.

01
No per-sentence tapping

Set once, then the app follows whoever speaks. Direction is decided by the voice, not by a button.

02
Live captions, saved transcript

Each line shows as it is spoken and stays in the transcript, ready to edit, copy or share after.

03
Read it aloud for the other person

Tap a line on the screen and the phone reads it, so the other side hears their own language too.

What it does - and what it doesn't

Frequently asked questions

Is Felo's Japanese to Korean translator free?

Yes, Felo is free to try on iOS and Android. Time-based plans, such as a 2-hour plan valid for 30 days, are available for longer talks and are priced on the App Store or Google Play.

Can it translate Japanese to Korean and Korean to Japanese in the same conversation?

Yes. Set one side to Japanese and the other to Korean; Felo translates each sentence into the other language as it is spoken and shows both on one screen.

Does it keep Japanese and Korean polite forms, like keigo and jondaenmal?

The engine is trained on Japanese and Korean speech and generally preserves each speaker's level of politeness. If a line sounds more casual than intended, check the transcript and re-speak it.

Can I use it to order food at a Tokyo Japanese restaurant for a Korean family?

Yes. Say what you want in Korean and the staff's Japanese reply appears in Korean - or the other way. The 4.4-star App Store rating includes many such dining conversations.

Does it understand Busan dialect and casual Korean?

Standard Seoul Korean works best. Common casual speech is usually fine; heavy regional dialects, like Gyeongsang or Jeju, may come out more literally and are spelled out in the transcript.

Does Felo need the internet to translate?

Yes. Live voice translation needs a network connection; there are no offline packs. Outside coverage, install and open the app in advance so the language setup is ready.

Can it translate to Japanese with a Korean keyboard?

You do not need a keyboard - Felo is a voice translator. One side speaks Japanese and the other speaks Korean; text is optional and only used for reviewing or editing the saved transcript.

How is this different from a dictionary or phrasebook app?

A phrasebook works when your sentence is already written in it. Felo translates whatever anyone says, in either direction, and records the whole exchange - so an unexpected answer like a new set of contact details still gets translated.

Can I watch a K-drama conversation through it?

Felo translates what the microphone hears, so it can be set down beside a TV speaker in person. It does not transcribe audio inside other apps, so the sound of an app on the same phone is not picked up.
